The cost of all AFI courses include material cost, shipping and testing. - How are quizzes and Exams given?
With the Online Home Study Course all Quizzes and Final Exam are timed and taken online on the honor system. The participants in the two-day seminar are able to take the test in person. During testing notes are allowed, but no text books will be opened, passing score is 80%. All exams must be taken within 120 days of enrollment. - How long is the AFI Credential valid for?
The American Fitness Institute Certified Personal Trainer Certification is valid for a period of twenty four months. - How do I recertify?
AFI provides two options for students to recertify. Recertification by exam and through continuing education. AFi students may recertify by exam or students may obtain 2.0 CEU credits. It is advisable to renew your training course bi-annually, and review your CPR/AED every 6 months. CEUs may be obtained through AFI continuing education providers or as specified in the Recertification Handbook. - What are the other requirements for becoming an AFI Certified Personal Trainer?
Every AFI student is required to obtain a valid CPR certificate with AED. Copies of valid certificates must be received byt the American Fitness Institute before a Certification can be issued. This is to ensure that if a emergency arises, all AFI Graduates will be competent in assessing what to do and how to respond.
- Directions for accessing your online courses
You can access the course at http://afitrainer.com/become-a-personal-trainer-login.html and begin the course. Once logged in, download the e-textbook. After downloading the text, it is recommended to study it chapter by chapter to prepare for your exam. Read and review the materials at your own pace, then once you are comfortable with the materials, log into the site to access the exam. After the course requirements are met and all documents are received your Certificate is issued.
If you have also registered for the Rescuer CPR AED course. log in and review the The Rescuer CPR AED course is 100% hosted online and may only be accessed by logging and clicking the Rescuer CPR AED tabs. Read and review the CPR AED materials at your own pace, then once you are comfortable with the materials, log into the site to access the test.
Both the CPT Exam and CPR AED course are only accessible after you are registered and logon to www.afitrainer.com.

. AFI will accept CPR AED from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or the Rescuer CPR AED course which meets the most recent 2010 ECC guidelines. If you currently do not have the required CPR Certification visit www.afitrainer.com/certifications.html and consider choosing the Rescuer CPR AED Course.
You have 180 days from the time you register to take the and pass your final exam. There is a one time three (3) month exam extensions. Retesting cost is $50. Exam extensions and retests cost are non-refundable.
